Barclays is reportedly getting a new CEO.

Ex-JPMorgan investment banker James (Jes) Staley is set to take over as chief executive, the Financial Times reports.

The news of Staley's appointment is expected to be announced in the next two weeks, according to the FT.

Staley was on a shortlist of two people to become the next CEO of the London-based bank, according to the report.

The appointment of Staley, a career investment banker, may herald a change in strategy at Barclays.

Former CEO Antony Jenkins, who came from a retail banking background, was fired in July. Chairman John McFarlane took over as interm CEO at that time.

Staley worked for JPMorgan from 1979-2013, and held roles including CEO of the investment bank (2009 to 2013) and CEO of JPMorgan Asset Management (2001 to 2009).

He then joined BlueMountain Capital Management as a managing partner.

Staley is currently on UBS' board of directors.

Barclays declined to comment.
